Monica Fergus creates hand-shaped ceramic wall sculptures inspired by the remarkable forms, colours and diversity of fish. Working from photographs and observations of marine life, she transforms these natural forms into individual ceramic pieces, capturing their distinctive shapes while giving each sculpture its own character.
Each fish is carefully developed through Monica’s making process, from shaping the clay to applying individually mixed and layered glazes. The final firing brings out unexpected variations in colour and surface, creating vibrant ceramic wall sculptures that celebrate the beauty and movement of life beneath the waves.
